If you feel you are the only person on this earth suffering from low confidence, you have a wrong preconceived notion, we must say. Some famous people never thought they would make it this far when they were kids. However, the way they fought back their low self-esteem and earned respect from all over is not only fascinating, but also inspiring. Here are just five of them.

“Those who mistrust their own abilities are being too wicked to themselves, discouraging themselves from doing what they should have been excelling in.”

 Marilyn Monroe

Marilyn Monroe, the pinup girl from the 60s of the last century, had issues with her self-esteem. In an interview, she admitted that she had to move in and move out of several towns, homes, and cities when she was a child. She also had several foster parents. Both her parents were mentally unstable. Due to her troubled childhood perhaps, she had low self-esteem and also used to suffer from depression and anxiety. However, nothing could stop her because Marilyn rose to the highest echelon of Hollywood glitterati within a few years, riding on her incredible courage and of course her ravishing beauty.

 John Lennon

You always thought that John Lennon was a very docile gentleman who just knew the language of music. Well, John himself also admitted that part of him was always a loser, and the other part believed he’s the Almighty. The British rock star also faced self-esteem issues all his life. However, his low self-esteem did not affect his later performances. He once disclosed that he used to regularly fail at exams, tests, and in every possible sphere of life. Later, he gathered the courage to stand for what he believed in.

 Hilary Swank

Hilary too was a troubled kid like many others on this list. She used to feel like an outsider. She didn’t quite like her school (who likes schools after all?) and used to feel insecure. However, later, she proved her mettle by acting in films like Buffy: The Vampire Slayer and The Next Karate Kid. Two academy awards under her belt demonstrate that she is no ordinary actress. But since some stories always remain untold, her childhood struggles didn’t quite become public.

 Oprah Winfrey

Oprah once said that self-esteem comes from the ability to define the world in someone’s own terms. She also added that one should not necessary pay heed to others’ judgments.  Did you know that the same charismatic actress and talk show host survived a rape when she was just nine years old? Also add to this that Oprah was molested by her uncle, cousins, and some of her family friends. She also had to deal with the rants on social media about her weight and her clothing. It takes so much to make an Oprah Winfrey!
